Health Workers for Healthy Communities

Training up Indigenous primary health care workers across Queensland

Health Workers for Healthy Communities

Indigenous Health Workers play a vital role in cities, towns and communities around Australia.

Capable of gaining the trust of Indigenous patients and understanding cultural they make up the backbone of Indigenous health services.

Though a small but growing part of the overall Indigenous workforce, it is clear that there is an increasing demand for the skills and service that Indigenous Health Workers can offer.

There are now more Indigenous people to care for than at any time in Australian history, and therefore a very high demand for Indigenous health workers.

The Health Workers for Healthy Communities program will provide accredited training to Indigenous Health Care Workers looking to further their career, and to continue making a difference.

The program will also give potential Indigenous Health Care Workers a taste of the industry, and a clear pathway into employment.
